Bird Marella attorneys Benjamin Gluck and Ashley Bowman have filed for a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction against the United States for the unlawful search and seizure of their client’s property in violation of the client’s Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights.
During the week of March 22, 2021, government agents executed a search warrant at U.S. Private Vaults in Beverly Hills. Despite not having a warrant for specific safe deposit boxes, the government seized over 700 boxes, has opened and inspected the contents of all of them, and has declared that it will not return the contents until the owners identify themselves and submit to an investigation to prove they came by their valuables legitimately.
Bird Marella is seeking court relief to prevent the government from interfering with the property rights of box holders for whom the government had neither probable cause nor a valid warrant.
