Bird Marella associate Sophie Kosmacher and partner Ashley Bowman secured the release of a Venezuelan national and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holder who was held in ICE detention for two months. Bird Marella collaborated with Professor Ahilan Arulanantham of the Center for Immigration Law and Policy (CILP) at the UCLA School of Law, the ACLU of Northern California, and the National TPS Alliance on this case.
The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas granted Ms. Kosmacher and Ms. Bowman’s petition for writ of habeas corpus, denied the Government’s motion to dismiss the petition, and ordered the release of the client within 48 hours.
